Peter J. Foley Student-Athlete Award
The Peter J. Foley Student-Athlete Award was established in 2018 to recognize an athlete who embodies the EMISCA values and the values instailled particularly by long-time member Peter J. Foley, who has given so much to our sport at both th estate and national level. In 2018, Peter became the first Massachusetts coach to be inducted into the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Hall of Fame. After 35 very successful years coaching at Weston High School with 18 state titles, Pete continues to serve as an official, tournament director, member of the NF rules committee, and mentor to many coaches, both veteran and new. His love for the sport is fueled by watching the success of local student-athletes who embrace high school swimming/diving, are leaders when it comes to sporstmanship, and also take care of business in the classroom. These honorees embrace a saying he instilled in all his athletes at Weston where he also served as athletic director for 28 years – “Don’t just spend your time, Invest It!”
