Whit was a Charter member and the first treasurer for EMISCA. He created the Coaches Packages that everyone looked forward to at the pre-season meetings. A fantastic coach, who is a member of the EMISCA Hall of Fame. His Melrose teams dominated the Middlesex League during the late 80’s and throughout the 90’s. As time moved on and swimming became much more reliant on technology, Whit was at the “Tip of the Spear” for this movement, and becan a very long as well as successful run as meet director/manager. Whether it was the New England YMCA Meet (which he helped create), NEWMAC’s, Ivy League championships, the MIAA Sectional and State Meets or Country Club end of the summer events, Whit and his trusted partner Kim where at the forefront. Together they mastered the various swimming electronic programs such as Direct Athletics, Hy Tek, and EDIVE to provide a quality experience for the athletes or as Whit fondly referred to them as “the kids”. To him that was the end line and what he aimed for. Ho always wanted a fair deal and a fair race… and boy did he always deliver.
